AuDi Campground Services, Inc. manages 9 N.F.S. campgrounds in the Palisades area.

The Snake River and the Palisades Reservoir provide great trout fishing prospects and recreational boating and drift boat fishing are very popular  activities.

Several hiking and backpacking trails, many well maintained and marked are available throughout the area.  Bird watching, photography, rock climbing, berry picking are some other common activities (permits may be required for some activities - contact the Palisades Ranger District for details.

Some of the campgrounds have individual campsites and group areas (suitable for reunions, family outings, church and scout groups, etc.) that may be reserved either online or by a toll-free call.

Palisades Creek Campground

Palisades Creek Campground Does Not Accept Reservations

The Palisades Creek campground is located 7 miles east on Hwy. 26 from Swan Valley, turn NW onto Forest Service Road #255 and proceed 2 miles to the campground.  Elevation of the campground is 5,400'.

 

This small 8 site campground offers a quiet forest setting along side the Palisades Creek.   There are potable water hydrants located throughout the facility.

A popular scenic trail leads up to the Lower and Upper Palisades Lakes.

 

A trailhead parking area is adjacent to the campground and has limited parking for horse trailers and vehicles.

Falls campground is located 3 miles off of US Hwy 26, about 45 miles east of Idaho Falls, ID.  Easy access to the South Fork of the Snake River and the Snake River bottoms is an attraction of the campground.  A view of the Fall River Falls is available a short distance away.

 

In addition to the 24 individual campsites a separate, reservable Group Area is located adjacent to the main campground.  This large Group Area has a central area containing 12 picnic table, 4 grills, and a large fire pit.  A spacious grassy area as well as some shaded sites allow for various activities and camping.  There is a maximum capacity limit of 160 people.

Riverside Park Campground Does Not Accept Reservations

Riverside Park campground is located below the Palisades Reservoir Dam and several of the campsites are along the bank of the South Fork of the Snake River.

Excellent fishing and boating activities are available here, as well as watching the different varieties of birds displaying their fishing capabilities.

There are 9 pull-through sites that have electrical hookups, 4 with 50amp. service and extended length pads.

A RV dump station is adjacent to the campground is free to use for registered campers.  It is also available to others for a fee of $5.00.

Big Elk Campground

The Big Elk Campground is situated along Big Elk Creek. Travel about 4.5 miles southeast on of the Palisades Dam on US 26 and then off on FS road 262, 1.5 miles the campground.

Hiking, biking and horseback riding are activities enjoyed on the Big Elk Creek Trail which begins at the campground and meanders up a beautiful canyon brimming with wildflowers, towering trees and scenic views.

In addition to the individual campsites there are 3 group sites that may be reserved and a smaller group site available on a first come-first serve basis.

The Blowout Campground Does Not AcceptReservations

The Blowout Campground is located along US 26, about 6.5 miles southeast of the Palisades Dam.  Aspens and lodgepole pines provide some shade in the campground.

 

The Blowout Boat Ramp is located below the campground and provides access to the Palisades Reservoir.  Recreational boating as well as fishing are popular activities on the reservoir.

Turn right off of Hwy. 26, mile marker 3?? (at the bottom of the grade to top of dam) and go ¼ mile, turn right and cross the river following signs to the campground. Distance is approximately 5 miles.

 

The campground is located on a hillside overlooking the Palisades Reservoir, with many of the campsites offering scenic views of the surrounding mountains and water.

A boat ramp and large parking area is located just below the campground.

The Alpine campground is located 2 miles west of the town of Alpine, WY just off of Hwy 26 at the extreme upper end of the Palisades Reservoir.

Jackson, Wyoming is 40 miles north, via Hwy 89 that follows the scenic Snake River Canyon.  Whitewater rafting is a very popular summer activity along this section of the river.
Grand Teton National Park is approximately 55 miles north, with boating, fishing, hiking, canoeing and spectacular mountain scenery. 

 

The Group Areas and several of the Individual Campsites may be reserved.

McCoy Creek Campground Does Not Accept Reservations

To access the McCoy Creek campground take Highway 89 south from Alpine, WY to the Salt River - McCoy Road #087,  go west approximately 6 miles to the campground located on the south end of the Palisades Reservoir.

There is a primitive boat ramp at the campground and it is possible to launch small watercraft; rafts, kayaks and canoes.

This is a "First Come - First Serve campground offering a relaxing forest setting for camping.
